TRANSMEDIA RELAY

TRANSMEDIA RELAY

…is an invitation to move from one curious unknown to another

…is an artistic crossbreeding facility

…is a form searching for its meaning

…is a fuse that sets off the art

is an open-ended chain of artistic transformations through contrasting media, taking off from Bruno Latour's questioning of modernity.

We want art to make us experience new sensations, think new thoughts, and take steps in new directions. If we could envision it, it would no longer surprise us. Thus, we developed a relay where one artist’s freedom becomes another artist’s constraint. Everyone has agency; nobody has full control; and we can’t wait to see where the emergent flow will take us.

Behind the scenes, we - the Aimless Research Institute and GalleryGalleryINC - are tweaking the knobs to push the experiment out of control, initiating collisions between contrasting practices and scanning the gallery space for unsought findings.

 NOW

We are looking for a boundary-pushing next leg, an artist inspired to respond to PAVEMENT Print Studio's 'Less Unreasonable' in an unexpectedly contrasting medium to screen print. It's convenient if you are in Melbourne or Stockholm, but we are open to ideas originating from other locations as well, as long as artistic logistics can be sorted out. Reach out to us HERE:
